Introduction of the electronic degree certificate at Aalto University progressing as planned
Electronic degree certificates will be issued for the first time to those graduating from Aalto University in August 2025. The project is progressing as planned with the current focus placed on testing various areas, planning the visual appearance of the certificate and the archiving process as well as drafting the guidelines. These steps ensure that the introduction and production of the new certificate runs smoothly and that the process will result in a high-quality and reliable electronic degree certificate for Aalto students.
We have started designing the visual appearance of the certificate in collaboration with Unigrafia. This collaboration ensures that the certificate meets the high standards of Aalto University and reflects the university with due esteem. An elegant visual appearance is key in creating a certificate that is distinctive and conveys reliability. We want to create a well-organised and authoritative document that highlights both the achievements of the student and the university’s prestige.
One of the key areas of the project is the preparation of guidelines. The successful introduction of the electronic degree certificate requires that students understand how the certificate is managed and how it can used for different purposes, such as job search or doctoral studies. Well-designed guidelines ensure that students are able to use their electronic degree certificates effectively and safely.
The project is progressing as planned with the introduction scheduled for 1 August 2025. This means that all students who graduate on or after 1 August will receive an electronic degree certificate. The last paper certificates will be issued to those graduating on 31 July 2025.
