Lamp exhibition Light! displayed at Aalto Studios
The task for students on the Tools for Design course was to design lighting inspired by top-quality Helsinki restaurants. The starting point for lighting design was a restaurant whose brand and identity were analysed. In addition to lamp prototypes, the exhibition brings the analysis of restaurants and the graphic product posters in focus.
"A massive exhibition consists of a total of 35 lamps and 59 posters. Aalto Studios was the only space where the exhibition can fit in, and it is quite suitable that the lamps designed for a restaurant are presented in a restaurant", says student responsible for the exhibition, Leevi Vahvelainen from Aalto University.
The assignment of the course was to implement ceiling lamps from sheet materials by small scale production methods fitting in the budget. The aim of the course was to develop the ability to give form and to understand the chances and constraints of small scale production.
Light sources and electrical components for the lamps were provided by the course partner Ajram.
