Learning Challenge Aalto – Call for Idea Proposals on Challenge-Based Learning and Enhancing Employability

Building students’ worklife capabilities is one of Aalto’s key strategic priorities.

Challenge-based learning is one key way to enhance student employability. Collaboration between university and industries is meaningful for both and acts as a learning experience for students and companies equally. Our goal is to inspire, equip and support students on their way towards working life. Tomorrow’s game changers are those who create value to companies and communities.

We call for ideas from all Aalto people (faculty, program directors, researchers, staff, students) on challenge-based learning and employability. The best ideas will be invited to join the Learning Challenge Aalto community. Learning Challenge Aalto provides support on design, technology and pedagogy and opportunities for co-creation.

After evaluating the funding ideas we will meet with applicants either individually or in a group to develop the ideas further and to make sure that the idea is implementable and sustainable. The best proposals will receive up to 10,000 euro pilot funding, ongoing costs will need to be covered from normal budgets or other sources once the course is up and running.

The proposed idea can concern development of an existing course or a brand-new course, several courses jointly, or a whole major or minor.

Teachers, departments, schools and students are now encouraged to apply for funding for pilot courses that enhance challenge-based learning worklife capabilities. The proposed ideas should:

  • focus on challenge-based learning on real-life problem/s, typically in a project format
  • include an integrated collaborative component with one or more external partners, i.e. companies, public organizations, or NGOs
  • be ideally multidisciplinary

The idea proposals are continuously evaluated as they arrive until October 11th 2017 at noon, the final deadline for this round of proposals.

Please submit your idea by using the following form:
