Each year, the Aalto University Summer School has grown its operations and course curriculum tremendously.

This summer, the Summer School welcomes 250 students from over 70 different nationalities to the Aalto University campus. The curriculum offers a wide variety of courses with something for everyone, ranging from topics like virtual reality, sustainable biomaterials, digital business, nordic product design, self-leadership, game design, data visualisation and much more.

All summer courses are academically validated by the school departments and are tightly connected to the three main cross-cutting themes of Aalto University – Radical Creativity, Solutions for Sustainability and Entrepreneurial Mindset.

To ensure an unforgettable summer school experience for every incoming student, Aalto University Summer School assembles a team of Program Assistants each summer. The program assistants are dedicated to ensuring the courses run smoothly and that students always have someone to turn to for guidance, whether they need help finding the nearest pharmacy, the best coffee, or directions to the classroom.

This year the team consists of Mansi Garg, Paige Livingstone and Suvi Korhonen – a dynamic trio that complements each other perfectly.

Mansi Garg

Mansi is a student at the Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture with a background in architecture and urban planning. Since January, she has been part of the Aalto University student marketing team and is now excited to work with the Summer School, where she enjoys interacting with students and enhancing their summer experiences. She is particularly passionate about planning extracurricular events and ensuring a safe and engaging environment for everyone. Where does Mansi love to spend her summers in Finland?

'My favourite spots during the summer are Esplanadi and Tokoinranta in Helsinki. I also love to spend time along the Helsinki coastline to enjoy the unique Finnish nature.'

Paige Livingstone

Paige, originally from Florida, has been working as an International Student Advisor at the University of Helsinki (UH) and as an English teacher for an elementary school in Japan. Paige moved to Finland from Japan in 2022 to pursue their master’s degree in Intercultural Encounters at UH. Their favourite summer spot in Helsinki is Way Bakery in Kallio, and especially recommends their zucchini focaccia. Paige’s greatest learning during their time at Summer School is to react to quick changes.

’I love that everyone on our team is a jack of all trades and always thinking on their feet – it has helped me gain confidence in my event facilitation skills and the ability to switch to backup plans when needed.’

Suvi Korhonen

Suvi has just completed her first year of the master’s program in marketing at Aalto University School of Business. Additionally, she is studying politics and communications at the University of Helsinki. She has a diverse working background including the Embassy of Finland in Oslo and working at the amusement park Linnanmäki in Helsinki. She is excited about meeting all the summer school students and participating in the extracurricular activities planned for this summer in Helsinki and feels that she has learned a lot about event organisation already. Her go-to tip for someone visiting Finland in the summer?

‘I highly recommend visiting Linnanmäki – it's a must-see attraction where you can spend a fun day on rollercoasters during your stay in Finland!’
