The new Global Management master's programme, which begins in the coming autumn, offers students a unique opportunity. Within this programme it is possible to earn two highly appreciated certificates simultaneously: The MSc in Economics and Business administration granted by the Aalto University School of Business, and the CEMS MIM (Master's in International Management) certificate. The CEMS MIM certificate is granted by . CEMS MIM studies can still be combined with other Aalto master's programmes and be completed alongside master's studies.

The Global Management programme consists of CEMS MIM studies and specialisation in one of the focus areas, which are Accounting, Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship, Finance, Management and International Business, Marketing and Strategy.

In the first year of studies Global Management students complete the courses of their area of specialisation and write their master's thesis. The second year of studies consists of CEMS MIM studies which have been organised at Aalto University for 19 years. The CEMS MIM includes a one-term exchange phase in another CEMS university, CEMS courses, and an extensive business project, international training, and seminars including extensive familiarisation with skills needed at work.

Business projects are done in the spring of the CEMS MIM year as corporate assignments. This year the CEMS Business Project final was held at the Nokia head office in mid-May. In addition to Nokia, parts of the project were also completed with Kone and the Finland Chamber of Commerce.

'The Aalto CEMS projects are truly topical and challenging, and consequently very meaningful for students. The contents of the projects are secret, because of their strategic nature', says Martyna Kosmala, who majors in Strategy and Venturing at the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management in the School of Science.

CEMS Clubs support networking among CEMS MIM students

Each of the 30 member universities of the CEMS community has a CEMS Club of its own. Programme Manager Arja Sahlberg says that the purpose of CEMS Clubs is to support the mutual networking of CEMS MIM students and to increase consciousness about CEMS and CEMS MIM. CEMS Clubs also support students in their studies and help them get acquainted with the local culture and working life. CEMS Clubs work in close cooperation with the universities’ CEMS offices and each CEMS Club has its own management team. The President of the CEMS Club Helsinki in the spring of 2017 was Sanna Pitkänen.

‘We arranged several CSR and company events as well as numerous social events in the spring, in which we sought to reinforce group spirit and our networks. In the early spring our activities included a visit to Tallinn, a weekend at a traditional Finnish cabin, and an excursion to Suomenlinna. We also visited Stockholm, where the local CEMS Club received us. In the spring of 2018 our CEMS Club will be responsible for organising the CEMS Nordic Forum', Sanna Pitkänen says, explaining the activities of the club.
