New spaces for self-study

Are you looking for a space on campus for independent study or work? In this news article, you'll find tips for students on finding suitable spaces. New self-study spaces were also opened on campus at the beginning of 2026.

Campus buildings are available to all students during their opening hours. The general rule is that you may study in a space whenever it is not reserved. This means you can, for example, study in a lecture hall without a prior reservation, as long as no classes are in session there or other students have not reserved the space.

There are special self-study spaces for students in nearly every building on campus. Some of the spaces must be reserved in advance using the Aalto Space app, while others are available without a reservation. The spaces are generally open according to the buildings’ opening hours, but some study spaces are open 24/7. You’ll need an access card to enter the 24/7 spaces.
