Our research on battery recycling was featured in a Finnish newspaper and magazine!
Research featured in Iltalehti and tekniikka & talous
Two major publishers, Iltalehti and tekniikka & talous, recently featured stories about the work carried in our research group on the recovery and recycling of raw materials from battery waste. Our group has focused on the recovery of various elements by leaching from currently unrecycled lithium batteries. This work is important because a vast amount of lithium and other valuable materials like rare earth elements are currently lost as waste due to the difficulty in their recovery. Some of these metals have also been declared critical by the EU, which shows the strong need for their recovery and reuse.
