Pekka Mattila in memoriam

Pekka Mattila, Associate Professor of Marketing at Aalto University (1978-2024), has passed away. In addition to his research work, Mattila was a respected executive coach who contributed ºÚÁÏÍø University in many ways.

Pekka Mattila, Associate Professor of Marketing at Aalto University, passed away on 23 January 2024.

'Pekka Mattila contributed ºÚÁÏÍø University in many different ways,' says Dean of the Aalto University School of Business Timo Korkeamäki.

'Pekka took an active and visible role in societal discussions, and knew how to make research understandable. In addition to his work as an associate professor of marketing, he was a highly regarded trainer and coach to business executives. As CEO of AaltoEE, a coaching and training services provider, he had a wide network.'

Mattila got his PhD in Social Sciences from the University of Helsinki and an Executive MBA from London Business School. Mattila authored several books on management, strategic marketing and sales.

He served as chairman or board member of several companies and organisations, including the Finnish National Gallery.

During his career, Mattila consulted and coached more than 410 Nordic and international companies and major public sector organisations.
