Professors Carl Fey, Ingmar Björkman and Eero Vaara are remarkable faculty members in the field of International Business
On February 2nd, 2019, the Academy of International Business (AIB) Executive Board approved various awards for exceptional past contributions to the Journal of International Business Studies (JIBS), in celebration of the journal’s 50th anniversary (1970–2019). In the sphere of frequency of substantive intellectual contributions, Dean Ingmar Björkman and Professors Carl Fey and Eero Vaara from the School of Business were awarded.
JIBS has always been and is the most important journal in the field of IB. The most remarkable contributions to the field are published in the journal.
‘It’s a great honour to be awarded. My own research is mainly qualitative and draws from social sciences. Thus, it has not always been considered mainstream in IB, but this award is a recognition that it is now’, Professor Eero Vaara says.
‘I am honoured to be recognized by the Academy of International Business for my frequent publishing in the Journal of International Business Studies. The fact that Aalto University has three faculty members who were recognized attests to the strength of International Business at Aalto which has a long tradition of global excellence’, Professor Carl Fey says.
International Business has been a strong area of teaching and research at the School of Business for decades. For instance, Professor Reijo Luostarinen’s (1939–2017) pioneering research on the internationalization processes of firms is widely recognized by international business researchers all over the world. Also, Professor Rebecca Piekkari has been devoting her time to doing high-quality research and teaching in IB for years.
Warm congratulations to Professors Ingmar Björkman, Carl Fey and Eero Vaara on this wonderful recognition of their merits!
