Promising fashion designers awarded at Näytös15

Collections with many skilfully crafted creations were presented at the Kattilahalli catwalk.

The Näytös fashion show organised by the School of Arts, Design and Architecture has established itself as one of the most important events in fashion. Once again, the event attracted international press, talent scouts and various Finnish and international fashion professionals.

The jury of Näytös15 consisted of the following international guests: Damir Doma, designer, Mimma Viglezio, strategic consultant, Susanne Deeken, design consultant, Robin Schulié, buyer for Maria Luisa Paris, Daniel Thawley, Editor in Chief of A Magazine Curated by, and Lou Stoppard from SHOWstudio.

The Näytös15 award worth 1000 euros was presented by Daniel Thawley and Damir Doma, and it was granted to Timo Helin.The jury especially liked the use of colours in his collection.

The Diesel Award was granted to Anni Raasmaja's innovative and playful collection. The award of 1500 euros was presented by Alban Adam, Diesel's PR manager for Northern Europe.

The Marimekko Award was granted to Ilona Hackenberg. This award, worth 1000 euros, was presented by Marimekko's President Tiina Alahuhta-Kasko. Hackenberg was praised for the details in her collection and the techniques used.

The Lodetex Award, granted for the first time, went to textile design student Lotta Paananen whose material and textile design was featured in Havina Jäntti's collection. The award was presented by design director Marie van Landehgem.

New collections by students from the Degree Programme in Fashion and Clothing Design were showcased to the public on Friday 22 May. This spring's Näytös15 and the Aalto ARTS Fashion Seminar held last Friday are a part of the Pre Helsinki event, a week of Finnish fashion shows.

The production of the Näytös15 fashion show is the handiwork of a production team consisting of students in master’s programmes, headed by Susse Roos. The collections will be on display at PR agency Spalt from 26 May.
