Provost Kristiina Mäkelä appointed to second term
The Aalto University Board appointed Professor Kristiina Mäkelä to a second term as Provost of Aalto University. The term is five years and starts on 1 December 2022. The appointment was based on a normal re-evaluation process in which members of the university community and external stakeholders were consulted.
The provost acts as deputy president, supports the president in strategic development, the appointment of professors and resource management as well as leads the processes connected to education, research and societal impact.
Kristiina Mäkelä started her first term as provost in 2017. She has worked at Aalto University as professor of international business since 2013. In 2016, Kristiina Mäkelä was appointed Vice Dean of Teaching and Learning at the School of Business, and she has also worked as deputy head of the Department of Management Studies. She has been a visiting researcher and teacher in several universities abroad. In addition, she has over ten years of industry experience.
