Robin Hunicke visiting Games Now! on 8.2.2016

Robin Hunicke will talk with the topic “Games, Players and Emotions” on 8.2. starting at 15.00 at The Stage of the Design Factory.

On February 8th the Games Now! lecture series will have one of its most famous speakers yet, game producer and professor Robin Hunicke. She has worked for many important and interesting companies, and is maybe most known for producing Journey, a very different yet successful game experience for PlayStation 3. Journey experimented with how to design for emotions and also made very interesting experiments with the cooperative multiplayer aspect in the game, and managed to be a success among gamers and nongamers alike. Hunicke has done game research too, introducing the MDA framework for game design together with LeBlanc and Zubeck, and did her PhD in dynamic difficulty adjustment in games. She has been very active in the international gaming community, for example organizing the Experimental Gameplay Workshop at GDC and indieCade festival.

Aalto ARTS Media Lab and Media Factory organizes the Aalto-wide course Games Now!, during which national and international speakers are giving lectures about the new turns of the games industry. The lectures are open to students, industry professionals and other interested people and are also streamed online.
