Several researchers at School of Business to receive a grant from Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation
‘This year, the Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation will distribute EUR 12.6 million to projects in the fields of science (63%), art (21%) and societal activities (16%). Of the total of 422 grants, 311 will be awarded to private individuals or working groups and 111 to organisations. The distributed amount includes 119 one-year grants awarded mainly to doctoral dissertations and postdoctoral research. In the grant application process in May, the Foundation received more than 5 200 applications and the total sum applied for was EUR 116 million.
‘Once again, we wanted to offer diverse funding: on the one hand, we wanted to contribute to the preconditions for scientific and artistic activities and, on the other, to enable experimental projects that develop different fields,’ says Executive Director Arto Mäenmaa.
This year, there was an increase of EUR 600 000 in the support awarded to science, art and societal activities by the Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation. The total amount also includes the funding of the Foundation's own activities, such as residences and purchased visual art (EUR 400 000) and the operation of the Wihuri Research Institute, which conducts biomedical research (EUR 2 000 000).
The Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation is an independent non-profit foundation established in 1942. The Foundation works towards fulfilling the requisites of a thriving society by enabling science, art and societal activities.‘
