The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the UN offer a blueprint for achieving a more sustainable future by addressing the most severe challenges our world is facing. Aalto University is the first Finnish university to sign universities' global Sustainability Development Goals Accord. For this hackathon, the university's entrepreneurship program — Aalto Ventures Program — teamed up with the Junction community to come up with solutions to a selected few of these SDGs.  

Solve the SDGs is an online hackathon, where groups work together with world-class mentors to solve sustainability-related problems. The hackathon is open for participants from all backgrounds and all levels; no prior hacking experience is necessary. The hackathon is not looking for technical submissions only — anyone can play a part in solving these problems. Each team will pitch their final ideas with two-minute videos on Sunday 20th.

• Sustainable Cities and Communities 

• Sanitation for All

Winners will be chosen from each challenge, along with an overall winner. Information on prizes, challenge partners and mentors will be announced later on the event page.
