Solve the SDGs hackathon aims to change the world in 48 hours

Aalto Ventures Program and Junction collaborate to create Solve the SDGs, an online hackathon where groups work together with world-class mentors and industry partners to solve meaningful sustainability-related problems.
Solve the SDGs by AVP and Junction, 18鈥20 September

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the UN offer a blueprint for achieving a more sustainable future by addressing the most severe challenges our world is facing. Aalto University is the first Finnish university to sign universities' global Sustainability Development Goals Accord. For this hackathon, the university's entrepreneurship program 鈥 Aalto Ventures Program 鈥 teamed up with the Junction community to come up with solutions to a selected few of these SDGs.  

Solve the SDGs is an online hackathon, where groups work together with world-class mentors to solve sustainability-related problems. The hackathon is open for participants from all backgrounds and all levels; no prior hacking experience is necessary. The hackathon is not looking for technical submissions only 鈥 anyone can play a part in solving these problems. Each team will pitch their final ideas with two-minute videos on Sunday 20th.

  • Domestic Violence  

  • Cyberbullying 

  • Online Learning 

  • Remote Medicine 

  • Sustainable Cities and Communities 

  • Sanitation for All

*industry partners for each challenge will be announced later

Winners will be chosen from each challenge, along with an overall winner. Information on prizes, challenge partners and mentors will be announced later on the event page. 

Solve the SDGs hopes to bring together people from across the world and from diverse backgrounds to work on solving meaningful problems. If you're interested in making an impact, you're welcome to join.
