Strategy work continued – Check out the materials and see how you can continue to participate

The second community event on strategy – Aalto University 3.0 - Education, Sustainable Development and Infrastructures – brought 200 Aalto people to the Learning Centre to discuss the three themes chosen by the community at the first event.

At the beginning of the event, Ilkka Niemelä, President of Aalto University reviewed the progress of the strategy work. The preparation work began last year with background research and insight gathering and has now progressed into working on the agreed findings. This year, the focus of the work will be on defining key pillars and choices for our future.

The President thanked the Aalto community for their active participation. Over the autumn, almost 700 questions were submitted by the community, which received over 1,300 responses at the joint community event in January.

Of the event’s three themes, Education was introduced by Vice President Petri Suomala, together with student Lumi Ketola. Sustainability was introduced by Vice President of Research Ossi Naukkarinen, together with Professor Minna Halme and Senior Advisor Meri Löyttyniemi, and Infrastructures was introduced by Professor Jukka Seppälä and Specialist Mikko Mikkola.

You can find all the presentations on the aalto.fi/3.0 website, under the Materials page (requires login).

Videos of the speeches can be found at the end of this page.

The community’s active participation in the preparatory work is a huge asset for us, and it will continue to be of great importance.

Ilkka Niemelä, President
