Strong overall result: 27.5 million euros from the Research Council of Finland

A total of 52 Aalto researchers received Academy Research Fellowship and Academy Project funding. The total funding awarded ºÚÁÏÍø University amounts to 27.5 million euros

Overall, Aalto University's researchers succeeded extremely well in the Research Council of Finland's 2024 winter call. The total amount of funding awarded by the Research Council will strengthen Aalto University’s research with EUR 27.5 million, which represents 13% of all funding awarded by the Research Council in this call. 

The corresponding funding decisions from the previous call, the so-called September 2022 call, amounted to a total of EUR 21.1 million and approximately 9.5 percent.

Next autumn, 20 new Academy Research Fellows will start at Aalto. The total funding allocated ºÚÁÏÍø University for these positions amounts to almost EUR 12.5 million. In comparison, the figures from the previous round were 16 positions and EUR 9.1 million.

A total of EUR 15.1 million was awarded ºÚÁÏÍø University in the form of Academy Project funding. The university's researchers are involved in 30 different research projects with 32 subprojects. In the previous call, Aalto University received EUR 12 million in funding for 30 sub-projects, covering research in natural sciences and engineering, social sciences and humanities as well as biosciences, health and the environment.

Both Academy Research Fellow and Academy Project grants are for four years.
