Students’ films compete at the first R&A Shorts contest

Seven films from the Aalto University’s Department of Film, Television, and Scenography ELO have been selected for the new R & A Shorts.

A total of 32 short films were selected to the R & A Shorts, a new Finnish Short Film competition. The domestic competition will be held for the first time at the Love and Anarchy Film Festival in Helsinki. The Aalto student films include:

Tuuli Teelahti: Life for Death, 2017, documentary

Terhi Kokkonen: Bellboy, 2017, documentary

Ilja RautsiHelsinki Mansplaining Massacre, 2018, fiction, co-production

Arttu Hokkanen: Ihanat naiset rannalla, 2017, fiction

Milja Härkönen: ±Êä¾±±¹Ã¤±è±ð°ù³ó´Ç, 2017, documentary

Anastasia Lobkovski: Hehku, 2018, fiction, co-production

Jarno LindemarkAjotunti, 2018, fiction, co-production
 

In addition, the competition includes works made outside ELO's studies. There are films from Anna Äärelä and Max Ovaska, both film director students.

The jury includes YLE's radio voices Susani Mahadura and Yagmur Özberkan, Creative Director of Miltton Creative Mikko Hakkarainen and director and photographer Johannes Östergård, who won the R & A Shorts Audience Award last year. The winner will receive a R & A LIFT prize for 1,500 euro, which will be announced 29 September.

R & A Shorts will be held from 26 to 31 September 2018 in Helsinki. All in all, during five days, 191 short films will be seen in more than 30 curated series. 31. The Love & Anarchy Film Festival will be held 20-30 September.
