Dear student, the semester is approaching its end, and we hope the past months of studying have gone well for you. Remember that Aalto offers services, guidance and self-study materials that support your study ability and wellbeing. Below you will find more about the services available and links to useful materials.

On this page, we have collected information about services, materials and individuals that can help students with their study planning, study wellbeing and career reflections.

Starting Point of Wellbeing offers drop-in guidance on matters related to wellbeing and study ability

Starting Point of Wellbeing offers guidance on matters related to well-being and study ability. You can meet with study psychologists, study counselors, special educators, Aalto chaplains, and career counselors without an appointment – check the drop-in guidance times on the website and come for a chat! Drop-in counselling is on break 14.12.2024-12.1.2025. 

Courses, workshops and self-study materials for students

Here you'll find information on our groups, workshops and online material for wellbeing, study skills and coping. The pages are administered by the Starting Point of Wellbeing. The groups and workshops are conducted in Finnish or English.

Mind & Study - toolbox for being well in studies (3cr) in the third period 

Do you want to improve your study wellbeing and skills using peer support and researched information? After taking this course, you will recognize the factors that affect your own ability to study and your wellbeing, and you will understand the importance of those in terms of meaningfully smooth studying. In addition, you will learn skills with which you can achieve study goals, which are meaningful to you, without sacrificing your own wellbeing. Theses&Tomatoes: Start your studies with Pomodoro

Are you having trouble getting started with your studies? Do you struggle to establish routines? Does studying feel like a lonely task? Would you like to study alongside others in a similar situation? Join us for guided studying and pick up tips for more effective work during Pomodoro sessions! Check our  and read further details via the link in the title. 

Personal Impact course offering 2024-2025

Personal Impact brings to light already existing courses in Aalto University on values and meaningfulness, self-leadership, societal impact, human potential and well-being. Courses boost your skills of self-leadership, leadership and personal development. Check the list of courses.

The Best Thing Today podcast series by Aalto University’s psychologists

The Best Thing Today is a podcast series hosted by the psychologists at Aalto University Learning Services. In the podcast, the psychologists casually talk about wellbeing topics – ranging from student wellbeing to the wellbeing of employees.

During the academic year, the Finnish Student Healthcare Service (FSHS) organizes preventive and treatment groups both remotely and at the service units. In a group you can get support for your health and life management. See more information about groups for spring 2025 and read more about FSHS's services . 

Nyyti ry. is an organisation that focuses on mental health work for students. Check out activities and services that Nyyti provides in English.

UniSport offers Carefree Shoulders exercise breaks open to all and free of charge on campuses and via MyWellness. These moments of relaxation are a great opportunity to free up tension and look after your body in the middle of a busy day. Carefree Shoulders sessions are open to anyone interested, and no advance registration is required. See the schedules for all campuses in December and spring term and learn more about the Carefree Shoulders break exercise sessions . 

The national Finnish Student Health and Wellbeing Survey (KOTT) produces versatile data on the health, wellbeing, study abilities, and health services of students and any changes that have occurred in them. The respondents are students at universities of applied sciences and universities aged 18 to 34. Read more about the results from (The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare).

Housing benefits for students about to change in August – how will this affect you?

Students will be transferred under a new housing supplement scheme on 1 August 2025.
You can apply for the student housing supplement in June 2025 at the earliest.
