Aalto Centre for Quantum Engineering has awarded funding for ten new doctoral training projects in quantum technology. This new decision mobilizes PROFI-funding allocated to this field at Aalto. Following proposals (supervisor) have received funding:

  • Nanoparticle internal structure in design of topological effects (Päivi Törmä)
  • From labs to markets – The emergence of quantum computing as a field of science and business (Nina Granqvist)
  • Ultrasensitive measurements using mechanical resonators in the quantum regime (Mika Sillanpää)
  • Private Information Retrieval, Private Computation, and Secure Multiparty Computation with Quantum Servers (Camilla Hollanti)
  • Optical forging of two-dimensional materials for scalable quantum emitters (Harri Lipsanen)
  • Quantum mechanics through interactive art (Perttu Hämäläinen)
  • Photon statistic of ultrafast Bose-Einstein condensates (Päivi Törmä)
  • Mem-devices with superconducting circuits (Christian Flindt)
  • Shortcuts to adiabaticity in superconducting charge pumps and refrigerators (Jukka Pekola)
  • Radio Frequency Quantum-Circuit Refrigerator (Mikko Möttönen)

19 applications were submitted by the deadline in May.  The funding decision, based on the recommendations of a local review board, was made by the Dean of the School of Science, Prof. Jouko Lampinen on 18 June, 2019.
