The portrait is a photograph by artist Marita Liulia, one of Finland’s best-known contemporary artists. Her multimedia works, photographs, paintings, books, games, stage performances and short films have been exhibited and performed in some 50 countries.

For creating a portrait of Tuula Teeri, Marita Liulia was the perfect choice for many reasons. She was the first Artist in Residence at Aalto University, and her 'recipe is to combine art, research and technology and to spice it up with a pinch of humour and a considerable dose of beauty' is valued by many in the Aalto community. According to Liulia: 'The limits can only be found by experimenting.'

'The contemporary approach of the portrait is certainly the right one to describe Tuula, a courageous leader, game changer and a true shaper of the future', said Anne Brunila, Chair of the Aalto University Foundation Board in her speech to Teeri.

The portrait was unveiled at the President’s Anniversary Seminar on Tuesday 20 June 2017.
