Three Aalto students awarded Fulbright grants to top US universities

The Fulbright Finland Foundation awarded M.Sc. (tech.) Antti Surma-aho, M.Sc. (tech.) Jori Lemettinen, and B.Arch. Henrik Ilvesm盲ki with travel grants ranging from $12 000 to $20 000. Surma-aho and Lemettinen will be carrying out one-year research projects at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and are currently pursuing their doctoral degrees at Aalto University in the Schools of Engineering and Electrical Engineering. Ilvesm盲ki will pursue two concurrent Master鈥檚 degrees at Harvard University in 2018鈥2020 and is currently finalizing his Master鈥檚 in architecture at Aalto School of Arts, Design and Architecture. The Boston area is considered a center of higher education and a world leader in innovation. The grants are in excellent agreement with Aalto University strategy with emphasis on excellence, multidisciplinarity, entrepreneurship, and societal impact.
Altogether 38 scholars, teachers, students, and professionals received a Fulbright Finland award at the Award Ceremony. The Fulbright Finland Foundation is an independent not-for-profit organization based in Helsinki, Finland, and its purpose is to promote a wider exchange of knowledge and professional talents through educational contacts between Finland and the United States. The Foundation collaborates with a range of government, foundation, university, and corporate partners on both sides of the Atlantic to design and manage study and research scholarships, leadership development programs, and internationalization services.
