Tips for using your new access token

The new access control token readers use a stronger encryption than the previous devices, which means that the token needs to be held closer to the reader, even touching it. The token should also be placed as close to the reader’s centre as possible. The colour of light around the reader will tell you whether the token was read successfully and whether you have an access right to the door in question.
Due to the stronger encryption, the new readers may be slightly slower than the old readers. The shape of the access control token also affects the reader’s operation: the reader reacts to the card token from further away than to the keychain token.
The reader devices' software is updated regularly and we will pay special attention to a smooth user experience. If you have any issues with the new access control tokens, please contact kulkukortit@aalto.fi or info-acre@aalto.fi. Additionally, if you notice that the token's serial number is not clearly visible (die-cut or laser engraved as pictured) or if the token does not work reliably, you can return the token to the lobby service desk and request a new one.
