Since August 1st, 2023, Tua Hindersson-Söderholm is the Head of Library Resources in Aalto University’s Research Services (RES), replacing Mari Aaltonen who got a position in University of Helsinki Library. Tua tells about herself: “I have a long carrier at the Hanken School of Economics Library, of which 10 years as the Library Director and member of the school’s management team. In addition to maintaining and developing library services, I also have expertise in the services and processes of academic skills, open access publishing, and the dissemination and evaluation of research outputs. For the last three years, I have worked on questions about Open Research and research data management at CSC — IT Center for Science. My first impression of Aalto is inspiring. I look forward to successful collaborations in providing high-quality information resources sustainably, cost-effectively and just-in-time.”

Tua is a supervisor for a team which selects, acquires, and makes the library resources available for Aalto staff and students. As a supervisor she has a strong responsibility for the library budget, which is almost 4 Meur in total, and where there is a constant need to balance increasing license fees with the desire to ensure that all academic personnel and students have the resources they need. The Library Resources team is also responsible for Aalto Direct which is a library resource delivery service, and for weeding the library’s physical collections.

In addition to the Library Resources team, Tua collaborates closely with Research Services (RES) and Learning Services (LES) personnel, especially the services for open science and the customer services of the Learning Centre.
