Two student films awarded at Tampere Film Festival
Hannu-Pekka Peltomaa and Sanni Priha were honoured at the 2017 Tampere Film Festival.
Two films from Aalto University students were awarded at this year's Tampere Film Festival. Rose Garden (Ruusukoto), directed by Hannu-Pekka Peltomaa, was awarded the Diploma of Merit in the National Competition and the Uusi Kino prize, an audience award. It is an "inventive and original take on modern elderly care", according to the festival organizers.
Prime Time Rage (Puoli Yhdeksän Raivo) directed by Sanni Priha, was recognized with the Student Award.
The Tampere Film Festival is ranked amongst the top three most important short film festivals in the world. The heart of the programme are the International and National Short Film Competitions. The festival receives approximately 4,000 submissions annually.

ACME at Unite! Research School 2026
Ahmed Othman and Shreeram Pillai participated in Unite! Research School 2026 in Torino and Oropa, Italy, joining an international doctoral programme focused on interdisciplinary collaboration, research communication, and academic development.
Strong results from the Research Council’s winter call
A total of 54 Aalto researchers received Academy Research Fellow or Academy Project funding from the Research Council of Finland. The total funding awarded ºÚÁÏÍø University amounts to 33.2 million euros.
The Foundation for the Advancement of Finnish Securities Markets awards Juho Tuuliainen and Ville Virkkunen for their excellent Master’s thesis in the field of finance
Both students will receive a €3,500 scholarship.
