Why not study a minor in International Business at Mikkeli Campus?

Aalto Minors Fair in Otaniemi on Thursday 10 March.
Two engineering students, Ville Parkkonen and Taneli Rautio, have been studying a minor in International Business at Mikkeli Campus.

Aalto University is all about bringing students from different fields together. Two engineering students, Ville Parkkonen and Taneli Rautio, gave it a try and came to study a minor in International Business at School of Business Mikkeli Campus. Ville and Taneli are third year students from Otaniemi and they major in Chemical, Biochemical and Materials Engineering. However, for the minor studies they thought they could try something else. Thus, they came up with an idea of studying International Business in Mikkeli.

According to Ville and Taneli, international professors who come to teach in Mikkeli have been inspiring and the quality of instruction has been very good. In addition, guys have managed well to learn the business theories even without studying much business before. Studying hard during the course has been enough to learn the required content. A small challenge for the two has been the mandatory attendance at Mikkeli Campus. Both of them are writing their Bachelor’s theses at the moment and it has been a challenge to attend both thesis sessions in Otaniemi and classes in Mikkeli. However, with careful planning they have managed to study at both campuses at the same time.

For prospective minor students in International Business Ville and Taneli advice to plan carefully when to come to Mikkeli. Because the campus in Mikkeli is relatively small, many courses are only organized once a year. Thus, it is the wisest to go to Mikkeli when the courses you are most interested in are offered. Small campus in Mikkeli makes it easy to get to know people. Since Ville and Taneli just came back from their exchange they have also enjoyed spending time with the exchange students at Mikkeli Campus. In addition, guys managed to find housing in Mikkeli without extra hustle: they filled in an application for the student housing foundation MOAS and MOAS organized an apartment for them.
