Innovation Advisor

INNOVATION ADVISOR

Join our team of experts at Aalto Innovation Services. We support and advance the Aalto community in transforming research results into innovations and commercialization activities.

Your role includes

  • Encouraging and evaluating research-based ideas with commercialization potential
  • Advising researchers on developing their ideas into impactful innovations
  • Collaborating with researchers to prepare funding applications and presentations
  • Supporting and mentoring funded Research-to-Business projects 
  • Processing invention disclosures, and managing IP protection 
  • Facilitating technology transfers activities

You will be part of the wide Aalto University innovation community, working with researchers, professors, start-up centre experts, legal and finance professionals, and other specialists. You may also collaborate with external stakeholders, companies, and partners.

What we expect?

  • Ability to dive deep enough into technology domains to assess them and identify commercial potential
  • Several years of experience in R&D and/or commercialisation of technologically intensive products from idea to market
  • Solid understanding of industrial property rights 
  • Experience in mentoring or advisory roles
  • Ability to work systematically and independently
  • Passion for customer service
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • A relevant university-level engineering degree 

In this role you are required to be precise and systematic, while having open mind to new ideas and approaches. We value a relevant background in one or more of the following domains: material physics, sensors, optics, electronics and communication, MEMS, health technologies, and quantum computing.

Your local workplace is in the lively campus area of Otaniemi, which has versatile services and good transportation connections. The position is permanent and full-time. We hope that you can join our team on 15.3.2026 or according to the agreement.
