Master's Programme in Design

Recommended timetable

The recommended study timetable helps you to make a personal study plan and proceed with your studies according to the target study time set for the degree. The recommended study timetable for the upcoming year is updated in June.

You can find your major's recommended study timetable below.

Completing the programme in different languages

Master's Programme in Design is a multilingual programme. This means that you can complete the studies for the programme primarily in Finnish or Swedish or primarily in English. Some of the majors in the programme are offered in Finnish and Swedish, some in English, and some using any combination of the above.

  • Finnish & English (students are able to choose more than half of their studies from courses arranged in Finnish): Fashion and Textile Design
  • English (teaching in English): Collaborative and Industrial Design, Contemporary Design

If you want to complete the programme primarily in a certain language, see the instructions below on the choices you need to make while completing the programme. It is not necessary to complete the programme in a single language. Instead, you can select courses in accordance with the curriculum rules. In addition to the studies towards the programme, there are minor and elective studies in the degree. You can choose these studies in the language of your choice.

The languages used in studying

In the table describing the language path of the studies (below), the language of instruction of the course implementation and any additional language of instruction are indicated. The language of instruction is the language in which the teaching is given. The additional language of instruction is a language used alongside the language of instruction. On the MyCourses pages you will find a more detailed description of the languages used on the course.

You may complete your coursework, such as written assignments or presentations, in the language of instruction or in the additional language of instruction. On some implementations there's also a language of study attainment which is not used in teaching but you can give your assignments in that language. The available languages of study attainment are indicated in Sisu in the implementation information.
