AREA - Doctoral School
AREA is the artistic research doctoral school of Aalto University. In AREA artistic research brings together the different research fields of Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture for the first time. Our aim is to advance and strengthen the role of artistic research.
In artistic research, practice is a key research component, and as such AREA seeks to uplift artistic practices which have a transformational role and engage with complex world entanglements. AREA continues Aalto University’s decades-long contribution to artistic research within Finland and internationally.
The AREA Doctoral School is funded by Kone Foundation and Aalto Arts.
