MyCourses: Multilingual teaching
In short
Multilingual workspace
There are several options for implementing multilingualism in the MyCourses workspace, and here are three different ways presented.
A. In a multilingual workspace, the content is written in multiple languages, and students see the content based on their chosen interface language.
In this model, you provide the content in several languages in one object, and students only see the content set for the language they use in MyCourses. This model works well if the course content is primarily written on MyCourses pages and uses MyCourses activities.
Multilingualism is implemented with the 'Add multilang tags for content' button (globe icon) found in the text editor. Read more in the section Multilingual activity names, descriptions, and content pages.
NOTE! The Add multilang tags for content button is only available in the TinyMCE text editor. If you don't find the button in your MyCourses view, click the dropdown menu in your profile > Settings > Editor settings and select the default editor or TinyMCE editor.
Note that the mlang button is not available in the title of the activity/section, so you need to add the mlang tags yourself.

B. Restricting content based on language, group function
You can use access restrictions to show content to students based on their language preferences. Create groups in the workspace for students speaking different languages (e.g. a Finnish language group and an Englishlanguage group). Create content (instructions, activities, materials) separately for each language group and place them in sections according to the language groups. Restrict access based on the language groups.

C. Multiple course spaces, separate workspace for each language
This model is the most laborious and is suitable only for certain cases. The challenge with separate workspaces is the complexity of maintenance and the discoverability of workspaces for students. Different workspaces have separate evaluations, so evaluations and grades must be collected from multiple course spaces.

yksinkertaistaa mlang-suodattimen käyttöä ja mahdollistaa kieliversioiden luomisen saman aktiviteetin/osion ym. sisällä. Käytännössä teksti kirjoitetaan MyCourses-tekstieditoriin seuraavasti:
- {mlang fi} sisältöä suomeksi {mlang}
- {mlang en} content in English {mlang}
- {mlang sv} innehåll på Svenska {mlang}
- {mlang other} content for other languages {mlang}
