From Fragments is a workshop series and an exhibition that follows allow students and other Aalto actives to express themselves, while similarly being a new addition to the pride month events at Aalto.

The project consists of planning, marketing, and producing the event + recruiting members of GAYY and Chair to collaborate on hands-on repairing projects.

The goals of the project are to create a space for students to get creative in the spirit of pride and bring people together.

The exhibition is targeted for 25+ participants for the artwork and additionally participants crawling through the exhibition. The organizing group is around 10 people.

Project planning has started last autumn and continues during the spring of 2026.

This projects creates space for similar art projects in the future and inspires multidisciplinary work together, bringing repair and artwork of various forms together. Everyone is welcome to participate regardless of their experience, talent or any other features. We offer recycled materials to use and everyone can bring their own project to work on.

Aalto CHAIR (Chain Reaction) is an initiative focused on reducing material waste on the Aalto campus and in Otaniemi by offering resources to repair, repurpose and recycle items varying from furniture to electronics. Dumpsters in Teekkarikylä are overflowing, workshops are filled with tools that people don't know they have access to, and we have a community of people who'd be willing to help each other to repair their well-loved items. Aalto Chair was founded to connect the dots and with the help of Sustainability Action Booster, we hope to act as the missing links and create a chain reaction of a more sustainable Otaniemi.
