KÄYTTÖ TÄSSÄ HANKKEESSA (USAGE IN THIS PROJECT) is part of my master’s thesis, in which I’m researching building demolition materials. I was able to access the still-standing demolition site of Malmi’s “Jumppis,” (build in 1987) located next to the protected school in Malmi. I spent a week there amidst piles of materials, exploring. When I learned that almost all the material was destined for recycling or construction waste, I decided that at least some of it had to be saved.
KÄYTTÖ TÄSSÄ HANKKEESSA – pop up is not an ordinary store, but a research site for imagining a better future, a laboratory.
The project will take place over two weeks. The first week is reserved for exploring the construction site: the materials, videos, pictures. The space is constantly being built and demolished. It is never ready and it's open for suggestions.
During the second week, on Monday, May 18, at 10 a.m., the demolition material pop-up will open, where materials can be picked up for free for one week or as long as supplies last.
