Art and Design at Aalto rose to the 13th place worldwide

The QS ranking also listed Architecture and Management in the top 100.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017 were published on 8 March. Aalto University's ranking in the subject of Art & Design rose to 13th in the world. Two other subjects were also placed among top 100: Architecture/Built Environment and Business & Management Studies.

"This kind of ranking news is a tremendous acknowledgment of something we already know: we are doing great things.  Not just in Arts, Design and Architecture, but also across the University. Our hard work is reflected in our groundbreaking research, our award winning projects, our inspiring students and our artistic excellence', says Anna Valtonen, Dean of the School of Arts, Design and Architecture.

Aalto ranked among 101-150 in the following subjects: Accounting & Finance, Civil & Structural Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Materials Science. Among 151-200 were Computer Science & Information Systems, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical, Aeronautical & Manufacturing Engineering.

The QS rankings by subject emphasise both the university's reputation in the world of academia and among employers, as well as research publications and references that they get. The significance of these factors is subject-based.

The QS World University Rankings also compares universities as a whole, and this ranking is published in the autumn. Last September Aalto University ranked 133.
