Court of Appeal: No punitive measures for shop steward dismissal
The Court of Appeal has released its judgement in a case involving the dismissal of a union representative working at the Aalto University Language Centre.
While the Court did find Aalto University President Tuula Teeri as bearing culpability, no penalty was incurred by the President as the act was deemed remissible. The action was intended to protect members of the University community, which protection the President is responsible for as a representative of the employer. The President chose that course of action which she considered the less detrimental in the overall assessment.
Aalto University will analyse the content of the Court’s decision and decide on any further measures at a later time.
