Diversity & equality conversations in the School of Science

Discussions about opinions and experiences in our community help inform next year’s equality action plan

The School of Science carried out a diversity survey across its departments over the summer. The results highlighted some strengths, but also plenty of opportunities for improvement, and were discussed by both the school’s quality working group, and the school’s management team.

Equality Action Plan

The school has an annual equality action plan – which is available to read here – and the school was keen to get more input from the community to help shape next year’s plan. Events were organized by each department in late October and early November, where the results of the survey from the summer were discussed by the staff in each department. The discussions were facilitated by Jonna Louvrier from . The events had around 175 attendees in total, and gave staff an opportunity to share their experiences at Aalto, and ideas for the future.

What was suggested

The meeting generated many suggestions for methods the school could pursue to help with its equality goals, which are listed in the powerpoint file that you can download via the link below.
