Printing renewal: delivery of new equipment starts; existing Canon multi-function devices will remain in use for the time being

Delivery of Uniprint, our new printing system developed in collaboration with Unigrafia, Ricoh and Aalto University IT Services, to campus will start on 1 October 2024. The new multi-function devices will be placed between 1 and 31 October, but installation will not begin until 4 November, 2023. The complete rollout of the printing system will be finished no later than January 2025.

To ensure the transition is as seamless as possible for users, the existing Canon multi-function devices will be available during the delivery of the new Ricoh multi-function devices, at least until the end of November. Therefore, you can still use the multi-function device that you are familiar with.

The delivery of the Uniprint’s multi-function devices will proceed building by building on campus, starting with the Undergraduate Centre at Otakaari 1.

Prior to starting deliveries in a particular building, Unigrafia will provide a detailed timetable. This information will also be updated on aalto.fi.

What do I need to do?

During October you can continue to use the familiar Canon multi-function devices as before. We will maintain the Canon system until the delivery of the Ricoh equipment is complete.

How to use the new service?

The new printing service will function similarly to the current system. To use it, simply present your personal printing card to the multi-function device's reader to access your personal Secureprint printing queue. After presenting your card, you will be able to release any documents you have sent to the printing queue.

The popular mobile printing service will also be available for the new system.

When will I receive more information on how to use the new printing service?

With the new Uniprint printing system, printer support services will be transferred to Unigrafia.

After the support services have been transferred to Unigrafia, Aaltonians will receive detailed instructions for the use of the new services. You will also be able to find the instructions next to each multi-function device.
