Professor emeritus Veikko Jääskeläinen In Memoriam
Veikko Sakari Jääskeläinen was born on December 1, 1931 in Kitee. He matriculated from Joensuu Lyceum in 1951 and graduated from the Helsinki School of Economics with a Bachelor's degree (lower) in 1955 and a Bachelor's degree in business in 1956. In the years 1956–59, Jääskeläinen studied at Yale University in the United States and completed a Master of Arts degree there. In Finland, he graduated with a licentiate in business in 1965 and received his doctorate in business at the School of Economics in 1967.
Professor emeritus Veikko Jääskeläinen served in his career as a professor of business administration at the Helsinki School of Economics, Chief Financial Officer of Valmet Oy and director of the International Center of the Helsinki School of Economics. He worked as a professor of international corporate finance from 1986 and as rector from 1992–96.
The business school's executive education activities became strongly internationalized and were incorporated during Veikko Jääskeläinen's rectorship in 1996 into JOKO Executive Education Oy. Today, the company is called Aalto University Executive Education Oy, and for a long time it has also been very successful in the highly competitive international MBA market.
Veikko Jääskeläinen focused his research on budgeting, strategic planning and international finance. He was a member of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters from 1974.
