Aalto University Student Union’s Freshman Committee (fuksitoimikunta) has launched a fundraising campaign ‘WappuApu’ together with the HelsinkiMissio organisation. The campaign supports work in decreasing loneliness among young people and students, whose mental health has been greatly affected by the pandemic.

Many young people are involuntarily left outside social networks, and many experience loneliness and anxiety about not having someone to share their thoughts with. With this campaign, students want to raise awareness about this important topic.

An installation is hanging on the wall of the Väre building on campus, where students have painted words wishing a bright Vappu (Finnish word for May Day celebrations), to all passers-by.

Take part in the campaign

You can participate in the fundraising campaign via the address wappu.fi/apu. The money is directed to HelsinkiMissio’s work in reducing loneliness among the youth. The fundraise is open until 10 May
