In particular, the competition is looking for inventions or insights with commercial potential and relevance to both people's everyday lives and industrial production processes.

The award will also be based on criteria such as social impact and the role of chemistry and related sciences. The award proposal must also comply with the principles of sustainable development.

Representatives of related disciplines, such as biotechnology and nanosciences, can also apply for the Innovation Award, either as individuals or as a group. The winner(s) will be announced in spring 2022.
