UWAS Experiments, spring 2018 (Dipoli, Otaniemi)
UWAS EXPERIMENTS is a processual exhibition that unfolds gradually during the two weeks it is open. Initially the exhibition is an invitation, a possibility to see what art-based transdisciplinary education can look like and how it is developed further.
UWAS is an artistic and educational experiment in Aalto University. By offering all students a possibility to engage in transdisciplinary art and design education, it aims at rethinking what learning and teaching could be in universities today and tomorrow.
The exhibition offers a series of vignettes into the different facets of UWAS. Like UWAS itself, the exhibition is a work-in-progress, an opportunity to make and remake connections between ways of knowing, thinking, and doing. As such, it is an invitation to generate new thoughts and attitudes concerning art, design, and education in Aalto University and beyond.
The exhibition includes student works from the following UWAS courses:
Exhibited from May 3 onward:
UWAS-C0015 Visualized Me: Creative Ways of Thinking and Using Visual Tools (Teacher: Laura Isoniemi)
UWAS-C0018 Mixing fields - Introduction to Multidisciplinary Art Practices (Teacher: Kasperi Mäki-Reinikka)
UWAS-C0019 Consumer Culture and Aesthetics (Teacher: Anastasia Seregina)
Exhibited from May 11 onward:
UWAS-C0016 Handmade: Creative Design with Raw Materials (Teacher: Milla Vaahtera)
On 9 and 16 May the UWAS working group, Harri Laakso, Juuso Tervo and Mari Partanen, will relocate its office to the exhibition space, making it possible for everybody to ask questions about UWAS and participate in developing its present as well as future practices. The office will be open at 10–15.
