Copyright ownership, authorship and terms for open access publishing are defined in publishing agreements.
In agreements related to publishing, the parties agree on, among other things:
Creative Commons licenses make it possible for authors and rights holders to define in advance the terms under which their materials may be used (for example, shared, adapted, or built upon) without needing to request separate permission. This makes the use of research outputs clearer and smoother for all parties.
