In this paper, the evolutionary emotion ‘disgust’ towards parasites in faecal matter is explored through artistic practice, in addition to theoretical and artistic review. Faecal microbiota transplants are used to further explore both disgust towards contaminated bodies, and the intrinsic nature of parasites in human evolution. Through examining ideas around disgust, identity, cleanliness, privacy and wholesome corporeality the paper builds a case for the power of faecal disgust, faecal matter, and faecal pharmakon.
