Career Monitoring Survey 

The career monitoring survey is conducted as part of the national academic career monitoring*. The results presented on this page are based on the data obtained from the survey conducted in 2025 and targeted at graduates in 2020.

Satisfaction with Degree 

Graduates from the School of Arts, Design and Architecture value their degree and feel that their employers appreciate their qualifications. Of the respondents who graduated in 2020, 78% were satisfied with their degree in relation to their own career, 79% felt that their employers value their degree, and 80% would recommend the degree to others. 

Employment

According to the results of the career monitoring survey, the employment situation for those who graduated from the School of Arts, Design and Architecture in 2020 is very good. Of the respondents, 89% were either employed or self-employed. 

Five years after graduation, the median salary of respondents is 4 000 euros per month, and the average salary is 3 950 euros per month.

Small and medium-sized companies (fewer than 250 employees) employ the largest number of professionals in the arts, design and architecture. Of the respondents, 30% work in small or medium-sized companies, 24% in large companies, 13% are self-employed, 9% work in the municipal sector, 7% at universities, and 6% in the nonprofit sector. 

Respondents named companies such as Aalto University, ABB, City of Espoo, Futurice, City of Helsinki, University of Helsinki, IKEA, Kone, L Arkkitehdit, SOK, City of Vantaa and Yle as their current employers. 

Examples of the most common job titles include architect, art educator, art teacher, creative director, designer, editor, exhibition designer, fashion designer, game designer, graphic designer, interior architect, landscape architect, media artist, service designer, UX designer, and visual artist.

The skills considered most important in their current jobs by the respondents include ability to learn and adopt new things, self-direction or initiative, problem-solving skills, co-operation skills, and stress tolerance. 

*The national career monitoring is coordinated by the Aarresaari network, which consists of 13 Finnish universities' employment and career services. The survey is conducted using a standardized questionnaire simultaneously for those who graduated five years ago. The national results of career monitoring are publicly available in the Education and Culture Ministry's Vipunen information service as a . also provides other information about the employment of degree holders.
