Communications Services – contact information

Aalto University's communications services aims to enhance the university's impact through communications and marketing efforts. The communications services consists of four units, whose contact information can be found on this page. You can also reach Aalto University's communications services at communications@aalto.fi.

Schools’ Communications Services

Provides comprehensive communications and marketing services for Aalto's six schools. This includes communications about research and education, student marketing, alumni communications, specific school events, and much more. Each school will continue to have its own communications and marketing specialists. Work community communications will support the management and leadership of schools and departments. The unit is led by Minna Tiainen, Head of Schools’ Communications Services.

The Brand, Marketing, and Digital Experience Unit 

Develops and manages the university’s joint communication and marketing tools and processes. The unit is also responsible for building a community-driven brand, student recruitment and marketing, and digital experience platforms. The unit is led by Robert Salvén, Head of Brand, Digital, and Marketing.

The team is led by Jutta Kasslin.

The Events and Campus Experience Unit 

Responsible for events targeting at the university’s community and its stakeholders, such as the opening of the academic year and alumni weekend, and for enhancing campus attractiveness. The unit also manages the production of open events in Marsio, exhibitions, Aalto Shop, and coordinates campus visits. This unit is led by Jessica Sinikoski, Head of Events and Campus Experience.

The External Communications Unit 

The unit is responsible for the university’s media relations in Finland and abroad, content production for and management of shared channels, Aalto University Magazine and communications planning for the university’s key themes in research, education, and impact. We also support the university leadership in communications activities and coordinate crisis communications and media trainings. The unit is led by Riikka Haikarainen, Head of External Communications.

Communications director

Crisis communications and reputation management

Communications Director is responsible for the university's crisis communications and reputation management and will assign communications resources case-by-case.

COS Crisis Management Group

Communications Director leads the COS Crisis Management group, which is composed of specialists from various areas of communications. The group addresses and outlines the university's communicative preparedness for different crisis situations.
