Why make a Named Donation?

By making a Named Donation to an endowment fund, you support long-term educational work and research that benefit both Finnish society and global well-being.

A Long-term commitment

If you want to ensure top-notch expertise in your own field – or even in a field, you know nothing about beyond the title – invest in long-term endowment funds.

Both general donations �� University and school-specific donations are collected into dedicated endowments. The return on each endowment is used at an average rate of 2.5% annually to support the respective school or, in the case of the university’s general fund, the common operations of the university.

Long-term commitment is crucial for achieving results in both investment activities and in research and education.

Innovations do not happen monthly, nor necessarily even annually. However, long-term basic research holds a particularly important role in research work, building upon previous developments. Often, even researchers themselves do not know where their work may lead decades later.

In addition to research work, high-quality, long-term commitment to education is essential for ensuring also the success of our society: we must secure both the well-being of our young people and the competitiveness of Finland.

In a situation of tightening public funding, the role of other funding sources becomes increasingly important.

We have an obligation to our youth to provide them with the best possible starting points in life. Thus, compromising on the quality of education is not an option. When a young person finds their field, their area of interest, they experience moments of success and fulfillment, want to develop, and they thrive. A Named donation can be made to endowment funds. When you donate at least 10.000 euros, you can inscribe your name in��'s future: your donation will be added to the endowment of your choice, whose returns will ensure the continuation of high-quality education and research for decades and centuries to come.

Who can Make a Named Donation?

Any individual can make a Named Donation. The donation can also be named after a company or even a graduating class. If you want to pool funds for a Named Donation with a graduating class or any other group, please get in touch with us at donor-engagement@aalto.fi

How to Make a Named Donation?

When you donate at minimum in the amount of 10.000 euros to any long-term endowment fund, you can, if you wish, name your donation after a person, company, or, for example, a graduating class.

To make a new Named Donation, and to find a suitable donation cause to match your interests, please contact us at donor-engagement@aalto.fi.

If you wish to donate to an already established Named Donation, you can do so by contributing online any amount between 5 euros and 9,999 euros. To proceed with your donation, please select the Named Donation from the list at the bottom of this page and follow the instructions provided.

Please note that a Named Donation is a relatively new form of donation, so there aren't very many Named Donation opportunities yet. We will update this page as we receive new contributions.
