The career monitoring survey is conducted as part of the national academic career monitoring*. The results presented on this page are based on the data obtained from the survey conducted in 2025 and targeted at graduates in 2020.

Satisfaction with Degree 

Graduates from the School of Chemical Engineering value their degree and feel that their employers appreciate their qualifications. Of the respondents who graduated in 2020, 83% were satisfied with their degree in relation to their own career, 92% felt that their employers value their degree, and 88 % would recommend the degree to others.

Employment

According to the results of the career monitoring survey, the employment situation for those who graduated from the School of Chemical Engineering in 2020 is very good. Of the respondents, 90% were either employed or self-employed. 

Five years after graduation, the median salary of respondents is 4 670 euros per month, and the average salary is 4 890 euros per month.

The largest companies and organizations (with over 250 employees) employ the most chemical engineering professionals. Of the respondents, 48% work in large companies, 26% in small or medium-sized enterprises, 13% in universities, 2 % for the state, and 2% in organisations, foundations, congregations or similar. The remaining 9% of respondents selected the 鈥渙ther鈥 response option.

Respondents named companies such as Aalto University, AFRY, Andritz, Borealis, Murata, Onego Bio, Vaisala and VTT as their current employers. 

Examples of the most common job titles include Analyst, Consultant, Development engineer, Doctoral researcher, Planning Manager, Process engineer, Project manager, Sustainability expert, and Quality assurance specialist.

The skills considered most important in their current jobs by the respondents include problem-solving skills, ability to learn and adopt new things, communication in English, analytical and systematic thinking skills, and organisational and coordination skills.
